A while back I came across these great vintage flour sacks, they look like misprints, but I'm not totally sure. From what I understand, people would buy their flour and it would be packaged in these large textile bags. They would soak the paper label off of them, (they come off quite easily with a bit of moisture), then they would be transformed into skirts, dresses, pillowcases, curtains, etc. What a great way to recycle! And we thought we had it all figured out in terms of 'green living'. I'm not sure how old these are, but wherever they were stored, they were kept in good condition. I have many different brands of flour, along with a variety of colors and border patterns. Score!
